I first qualified as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist in 2005 after training with Trevor Silvester at The Quest Institute. I've added a few more tools to the toolkit over the years, including EFT (Tapping) and EMI+AMDR (which you may know as EMDR) which is excellent for resolving trauma. I also trained with Jamie Smart in Clarity Coaching in 2016 + starting coaching people from a 3 Principles perspective. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of people to free themselves from all kinds of mental pain, unhelpful behaviour patterns, resolve trauma + PTSD + lack of self worth. My approach is a culmination of all the amazing trainers + teachers I have learned from along the way, plus the myriad of fascinating clients I have met. I work from the fundamental belief that people are whole and already have everything they need inside to be who they want to be, they sometimes just need some help to discover those resources for themselves - you are way more than you realise you are. As so much of our behaviour is dictated by our unconscious mind (in order to keep us safe), it can be difficult to tackle alone. I love to help people find more clarity in their lives, shake off stuff that's holding them back and help them to discover parts of themselves they didn't know existed. Sometimes, we might need to raze the old structures to the ground, before we can rebuild the new.
I have a very varied practice + although I have now developed some expertise in working with women at Midlife, I am open to all enquiries -please get in touch with me to see if we could work together.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Need help to achieve your vision for your life? I feel passionately that we need to re-awaken the creative part of ourselves that dreams, and then make ourselves come alive by taking action on that vision. There's no need to feel unfulfilled or wonder if there's something more to life. You don't need to be at the mercy of circumstance, you have the power to create your life. Get off the hamster wheel and step into a new reality.

"You will either step forward into growth or you will step back into safety"    Abraham Maslow
AMDR is a version of EMDR that combines the latest neuroscience discoveries with Cognitive Hypnotherapy to help clear out trauma and triggers that are locked in the primitive parts of the brain, the parts which cannot be reached with cognitive, talking therapies alone. These parts of the brain are always trying to keep you safe, but unfortunately the behaviours it creates to keep you safe can ultimately become life-limiting. AMDR processes and changes the coding of memories which allows them to be stored away differently, so the amygdala is not being fired over and over again and rewiring of the brain can occur. This technique can free people who had previously been trapped in fight/flight mode, or have been butting up against the same self-defeating behaviours over and over again. The space this creates in your mind, allows you to realise your true potential.
Trauma can show up in many different forms and it isn't necessarily about having big, life-changing events happen to you.'Little T' trauma can have just as big an impact on your quality of life as 'Big T' trauma.  Covid has meant the protocol for this technique has become even more creative, so we can maintain space between therapist and client for in-person sessions and there is excellent software for online sessions available now.

Cognitive Hypnotherapist + Coach

I have always been fascinated by people and why they do what they do, partly because I didn't really understand why I did the things I did! It felt like if I studied other people enough, I would learn how to be a 'proper human'.  I grew up in a pub, which was fantastic for people watching, and I think I learned a lot about the best and worst of people there. I followed a childhood dream of becoming an actor, which was all about getting inside the mind of a character - it felt so good to be someone else for a while and escape myself.

When life started becoming more about mortgages + avocados instead of raves + red bull, I retrained. This was the best thing I ever did for myself. I didn't start out looking for a career, I was once again in the realm of trying to understand human behaviour, but by learning the neuroscience behind why we do what we do, it was a no-brainer that I was going to help other people. I finally discovered for myself, that I wasn't broken or faulty, as I always used to think I was + have been on a mission to show others that they aren't either. Just because you think you're broken, it doesn't mean you are.
